AJ Richards served in the Utah National Guard and started a few businesses over the years. AJ is also an entrepreneur and the CEO of Rush Club Nation. He was born in Southern Utah and spent much of his childhood playing with cousins at the family cattle ranch. He dropped out of high school his senior year and joined the military. From the age of 16 until he deployed, AJ went through a new job every three months. In 2005 he deployed with his field artillery unit to Ramadi, Iraq.

After returning from Iraq, AJ took a job but found himself miserable selling pest control door-to-door. He was depressed and was soon misdiagnosed by doctors with PTSD. He chose to not take the prescribed antidepressants, he started exercising and discovered CrossFit as a way to enhance his mental and physical wellbeing.

AJ opened his own CrossFit gym in 2011, in 2013 he had an idea to do with CrossFit athletes and competition what Dana White did with the UFC. He took CrossFit and made it entertaining and added weight divisions. With only 3 years invested,  AJ is the CEO of Rush Club Nation. He’s been figuring out how to manage Rush Club’s popularity and massive growth while figuring out how to scale nationwide and globally.

In this episode we touch on discovering your purpose, the power of positivity, finding a mission that makes you wake up on fire with enthusiasm, the power of vulnerable leadership, the vision for Rush Club and so much more.

Mark Divine is from upstate New York and did his formal undergraduate education at Colgate University. His years at Colgate University were focused on the athletic endeavors of competitive swimming, rowing and triathlon racing.

Mark pursued a Ph.D. in Leadership at the University of San Diego and served as an Adjunct Professor of Leadership in their undergraduate school. The Doctorate was interrupted by a one-year recall to active duty for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The recall took him to Baghdad in 2004 with SEAL Team One to conduct a special project studying the future role of the USMC in the Special Operations Command. Upon return home he left USD to focus on developing SEALFIT and put his Unbeatable Mind training philosophy to work on a new generation of Special Ops candidates.

I've been a big fan of Mark's training and life philosophy for years -- and his message resonates deeply with what I believe in. In this episode, we discuss the state of Men in 2016, the 5 mountains of becoming a warrior, how to transcend the physical and mental to develop the union of heart and mind called Kokoro, the power of silence and meditation and so much more.

In this episode we go deep on one of my favorite topics: relationships. The book, called “The greatest adventure of our Generation” by The Daily Telegraph and was inspired by Karan’s one year sabbatical traveling from Europe to India by road and learning yoga and meditation in the Himalayas. I'll be honest, this episode blew my mind and will be absolutely change your view on spirituality, sabbaticals, travel and taking some time "off" goal setting, personal development and always looking to achieve and be more.

Karan defines "emotional materialism" as a key virtue in the West, how to create uncomfortable practices for disciplining the mind and spirit and how sleeping on cold ashram floors creates a mind shifting perspective on everyday life in New York City.

Tom Bilyeu is the co-founder and president of Quest Nutrition and the host of the weekly thought leadership talk show, Inside Quest.

Tom and his business partners have been working as a team for 13 years, across multiple companies. Quest Nutrition, however, was the company that broke the mold. Previously driven by an obsessive focus on profitability and companies designed to be sold, Tom and his partners founded Quest with a different vision: building a company with a mission - a company designed to last. To do so, they asked themselves one question, “What would we love doing even if we were failing?” Enter Quest Nutrition. In just five years, Tom has helped grow the company from a modest passion project into the second fastest growing private company in America, with over 57,000% growth in its first three years alone (via Inc. 5000).

For Tom the mission of Quest is deeply personal – he wants to save his mom and sister from metabolic disease. To do that he plans to transform the entire food industry by creating foods that taste as good as they are good for you. That’s what makes Quest more than just a food company, it’s a company that will never stop innovating until global nutrition has been freed from the stranglehold of junk food.

Tom is a forever student of life. His obsession with mastering skills has molded him into a well-rounded leader, battle-hardened and unafraid to fire moonshots.

For more than 10 years, motivational speaker, self-help author and success mentor Shannon Graham has helped countless individuals and businesses reach their goals through a wide range of effective, life-changing strategies.

Recognized across the globe as a premier motivational speaker and leader in the self-help and coaching industry, Shannon Graham has developed a number of transformative coaching programs to tackle the hurdles of life and business.

In this episode of the Resist Average Academy, Shannon and I dig deep into several topics, including Shannon's rise from being homeless to creating a high ticket program to the tune of $150,000 a year.

We also go through what holds people back from greatness, self-worth, opening yourself up to deserve more, limiting beliefs and everything in between.

This is a unbelievably powerful episode that I encourage you to listen to at least twice.
